The BaseElements plugin is a free and open source plugin, available to everyone to extend the built in functions of FileMaker Pro.
Originally this plugin was developed by Goya to allow them to extend their BaseElements product with a single function that performs, dialog and xslt functions not otherwise available inside FileMaker. Although there were some options for doing all of the parts of this, there wasn’t anything that they were happy with that did all of this in a single plugin. So they wrote their own.
And luckily for us they decided that the FileMaker community would benefit the most if the plugin and it’s code was available to all.
It’s becoming a very useful multi purpose plugin with features ranging from reading and writing files to running SQL commands and downloading files from the internet.
There are no licence fees or restrictions on the plugin, you can use as many copies of it as you want on as many machines as you want. It’s available for Mac and Windows and all functions work equally on both platforms.
The BaseElements plugin is also open source, meaning it’s free to adapt and extend to your own desires. You can take the source code and add or remove functions, rename it and re-compile to your own specifications.
